Red Polkadot and Freehand Bow

I'm dotty for you

How long has it been since I've done a freehand design?! Far too long is the answer! so without further ado here was a manicure I did last minute before a night out at the pub to go with my red dress!
I finished the design with a sparkle top-coat from Rimmel so that the lights in the pub would catch the shimmer in my nails and it is also a great top-coat to prevent chipping!

Purple Gradient

It's a Shady World

Instagrammer @Toth_Kriszta was featured on the ModelsOwnOfficial account a few weeks ago with her immaculate purple gradient nails and I have been inspired by it since!
After my BFF gave me a collection of polishes which featured a couple of purples I thought I had to try the mani I had admired for so long!

I really did love this mani and probably kept it on longer than any other designs I have tried, and as I build my collection further (if that's even possible!) I'll definitely be trying this with other colours, I'm thinking blue and red could be quite stunning!
Although I am using separate colours for each nail here remember you can get creative and create different shades by layering different colours e.g. white & purple or dark blue & purple will also create different hues!

Models Own Fruit Pastel Scented Collection

Fragrance Fashion

Recently I won one of the Models Own famous competitions on Instagram and was lucky to enough to win the whole Fruit Pastel Collection!
I can honestly say that this collection does not disappoint, for someone who love pastel colours there is a colour for every occasion!

Obviously the delicious smells are benefit and they really do last - I used the white 'Coconut Cream' and 4 days later they were chip-free and still smelling fantastic!
I wish I could choose a favourite to recommend and maybe save you a few pennies rather than having to buy the whole collection but sadly all 6 are winners in my eyes - this is the must-have collection of summer!

Peacock Nail Art

I Wanna See Your Peacock

This is a design I did recently inspired by the classic peacock design, the accent nail is done with nail art brushes hand painted and the main nails were done using the sponging effect (similar to how you would do galaxy nails). I used a lot of different nail polishes so haven't listen them, but they were all drugstore buys that you can pick up at any Superdrug or Boots!

Criss Cross Tutorial

Criss Cross Nail Design

Step 1. Choose a base colour, I used two coats of a drugstore white polish I have and let it completely dry.

Step 2. Cut your striping tape and put 3 diagonal lines over your nail

Step 3. Place another 3 stripes diagonally across the nail going the opposite way to create a criss-cross pattern.

Step 4. Choose a top colour, I used a hot pink from Avon. Make sure your top colour is more or less opaque with one coat.
Paint a coat of the top colour and quickly remove the tapes.
If you leave the top colour to dry too much before removing the striping tape then the lines will not be as clear.

Step 5. Add a topcoat! I used my trust-worthy Models Own top coat.

Step 6. Tidy up with a Q-Tip dipped in nail varnish remover and admire your new design!

Pastel Waterfalls

And Through This Waterfall...

I've seen this design a couple of times around the blogging world now and thought I'd try it out! It was surprisingly easy! I started with a pale purple base and then using nail art pens in pink, purple and clear glitter I dragged lines up to the half-way-line on my nail and topped it all off with a clear top coat!

I really like how subtle the colours are in this design and would love to try it with more bright summer colours soon!

Why We Love Being Nude

Nude Nails are still New

After painting my nails with my favourite nude shade 'Naked Glow' by  Models Own for about the 100th time, I wondered what was so special about nude nails and why it's still so popular.

1. They're simple yet effective. I like to think of them a 'girl on the go' nails, for those who always want to look like you take care of yourself without anyone thinking you might take too much care of yourself - no one can call you high maintenance wearing a nude shade.

2. The possibilities are endless! Have seen you the pictures of nude nails on Pinterest lately? If not click here now! Whether you're daring the accent nail, or going simple with a small motif, or jazzing it up with some diamantes, there is literally no design that couldn't work on a nude base!

3. They're sexy (in a way). Now I'm sure you've found that men don't tend to comment on nail polish very often, but they do notice it especially if you're like me and always changing up the colours and design! There is something about the nude shades that are strikingly effortlessly (see number 1) sexy! Why else do you think nude heels and stilettos are soo popular especially around spring?

4. They're fresh. And no I'm not talking about the kind of 'fresh' that Will.I.Am likes to call things. I'm speaking about how clean they look! They don't dirty like white polishes can do but these nudes can just look immaculate and tidy when done right. When I've painted mine in such a shade, I never get bored of them, unlike when you get crazy designs and after a few days the novelty has worn off.

So that's my list and reasons for why I love nude polishes. I also think they're perfect for this time of year when the sun is trying it's hardest to push through the doom and gloom!
Let me know why you love a good nude and what your favourite polish is!
